Client brief

Set within a unique historical conversion, the client, a passionate design and architecture enthusiast, wanted a bathroom that felt as "special" as the property itself. The vision was to achieve a modern, minimalist look with exceptionally clean lines and a "striking" focal point. The goal was to balance the raw, industrial heritage of the former taxi rank with bold colour and high-shine finishes to create a space with a definitive edge.

The process

Our design team leaned into the building's industrial character by selecting materials that evoke a structural, metropolitan feel. To meet the client's request for "something striking," we focused on a high-contrast colour strategy. By setting a deep, bold blue against a neutral, cement-toned backdrop, we created a visual anchor that defines the room. The process was a study in balance: using architectural porcelain to provide the "clean lines" while utilising polished hardware to reflect light and add a premium, modern polish.

What we did

Monolithic Industrial Tiling: Wrapped the floors and walls in cement-style porcelain tiles from our European Tiles selection, creating a seamless and sophisticated architectural foundation.

Bold Tonal Contrast: Specified a Faeber wall-hung vanity unit in a bold blue, a choice that provides a vivid "pop" of colour and is complemented by the client’s matching soft furnishings.

High-Shine Hardware: Integrated polished chrome brassware to provide a sharp, reflective contrast against the matte, cement-style surfaces for a unique and polished look.

Recessed Storage Solutions: Maximised the room’s footprint with a HIB Vanquish recessed mirrored cabinet and an integrated shower niche, ensuring toiletries are tucked away to preserve the clean aesthetic.

Floating Minimalist Layout: Utilised the wall-hung vanity to keep the floor area clear, emphasising the sense of space and the continuity of the industrial-style tiling.
