Client brief

For their master ensuite redesign, the Twickenham-based client sought a space that exuded "quality, elegance, and class." The project presented a unique architectural challenge: the bathroom was situated within a loft conversion featuring sloped ceilings. Despite the considerable floor space, the layout required a designer's touch to ensure the room felt spacious and desirable rather than cramped. A primary aesthetic driver was the client’s passion for high-contrast marble, specifically requesting a design built around the dramatic "Classic Marquinia" aesthetic.

The process

To navigate the sloped ceilings, our designer focused on "low-profile luxury" and bespoke glass engineering. We utilised 3D planning to position the freestanding bath in a zone where head height was less critical, while placing the shower and vanity where the ceiling was at its peak. To achieve the client's vision for a cohesive marble look, we paired deep black Marquinia tones with softer Carrara finishes. By integrating warm brass hardware, we successfully softened the monochrome palette, creating a loft retreat that feels intentionally curated and architecturally integrated.

What we did

Dramatic Marble Foundation: Specified Classic Marquinia tiles from our European Tiles range, providing a bold, luxurious backdrop that anchors the entire ensuite design.

Coordinating Stone Furniture: Sourced a Faeber Mode unit in an exquisite Nero Carrara Stone finish, topped with a Faeber Silkstone Box basin to complement the room’s marble-centric theme.

Sophisticated Brass Accents: Integrated brass-finished fixtures throughout the room, adding a warm, stunning touch that elevates the black and white stone surfaces.

Loft-Optimised Bathing: Installed a petite Clearwater Fermoso freestanding bathtub, perfectly scaled to fit the loft’s unique proportions while offering a premium soaking experience.

Bespoke Shower Engineering: Ingeniously created the shower zone using London Showers Bespoke Shower Glass, tailored to the specific angles of the sloped ceiling to maintain an open and airy feel.

Spatial Mastering: Utilised the "considerable floor space" to create distinct zones for both an invigorating shower and a relaxing soak, ensuring the loft conversion reached its full potential.
