Client brief

As part of a unique property conversion, the client, who has a deep passion for design and architecture, wanted a cloakroom that felt "striking" and entirely distinct from a standard residential space. The vision was to maintain the property’s modern, clean-lined aesthetic while introducing a decorative, nature-inspired element that would make this compact room a memorable architectural highlight.

The process

Given the cloakroom's smaller footprint, the design process focused on "maximalist texture" within a "minimalist layout." To fulfil the client’s desire for something striking, we moved away from traditional tiling and utilised the walls as a canvas for bold, nature-inspired wallpaper. Our designer then selected dark, moody tones for the fixtures and hardware to anchor the intricate patterns, ensuring the space felt cohesive, sophisticated, and reflective of the building’s unique heritage.

What we did

Nature-Inspired Canvas: Specified an intricate, nature-themed wallpaper as the primary design feature, providing the "wow factor" and an organic contrast to the property's industrial bones.

Mood-Defining Hardware: Sourced VADO brushed black brassware, a choice that adds a unique, contemporary look and a tactile, high-end finish to the vanity area.

Cohesive Tonal Selection: Chosen a dark-toned Faeber wall-hung vanity unit, expertly paired with the client’s matching soft furnishings to complement the deep hues within the wallpaper.

Integrated Storage: Optimised the compact space with a HIB Vanquish recessed mirrored cabinet, providing eye-level storage that sits flush with the wall to preserve the clean lines of the design.

Floating Architectural Lines: Utilised a wall-hung configuration for the vanity to keep the floor area clear, allowing the pattern on the walls to remain the central focus of the room.
