Client brief

The objective for this impressive Surrey home was to design a master ensuite that felt expansive, contemporary, and "clean." The client requested a minimalist aesthetic that didn't sacrifice practicality, requiring a layout that could seamlessly accommodate a high-end bathing experience alongside an efficient daily shower routine. Key to the brief was a desire for "premium quality" and a space that felt exceptionally well-lit and airy.

The process

To achieve the requested "open space" feel, our designer focused on "linear transparency" and "geometric interest." By using a simple glass panel to define the shower zone, we maintained an unobstructed view across the room, ensuring the floor-to-ceiling volume remained intact. The process involved a careful study of "natural light mapping", positioning the core fixtures beneath the existing skylights to ensure the sun’s path enhances the room’s textures throughout the day. By mixing organic wood grains with sharp geometric tiles, we added warmth to the minimalist theme.

What we did

Sculptural Centerpiece Placement: Featured the StoneKAST Ovale bathtub as the room’s primary statement piece, its elegant curves providing a soft contrast to the room’s clean lines.

Geometric Feature Wall: Created a stunning visual anchor using European Tiles Hextile, adding architectural depth and a modern pattern that sets the ensuite apart.

Seamless Shower Integration: Utilised a minimalist glass panel to create a spacious walk-in shower feature, maximising functionality without closing off the room.

Organic Material Contrast: Installed a wall-hung Crosswater basin vanity unit in driftwood, adding a tactile, natural element that "blends superbly" with the crisp Atlas White floor tiles.

Luminous Environment Design: Leveraged the property’s skylights to flood the room with natural light, a key design element that makes the white surfaces and premium fixtures glow.

Floating Minimalist Aesthetics: Specified wall-hung furniture and a streamlined layout to keep the floor area clear, reinforcing the "open space" ideal for the client's daily routine.
